Vintage Report
Following a hotter than normal summer, vintage began at Ferngrove in early March and ran smoothly until the last fruit came off the vines at the end of April. Vineyard Manager Chris Zur describes conditions as "similar to our 2008 vintage, the weather was kind to us and our yields were pretty close to or slightly better than the long term avergae," Chris says, describing a harvest thankfully free of the ever-dreaded hiccups inclement weather can trigger.
Chris tips Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, along with select parcels of Shiraz, as his highlights of the first wines of the new decade: "we saw some excellent, opulent fruit flavours." he says.
